Finding His Sound: HYLE’s Journey from Riccione to the Electronic Scene

Mattia Peonia, known by his stage name HYLE, is a musician from Riccione, Italy, who discovered his passion for electronic music at the age of 16. Growing up, he was influenced by Massimino Lippoli, an iconic Italian DJ and producer recognized as a pioneer of the Ambient House genre with his 1989 track “Sueño Latino”. This early exposure sparked Mattia’s interest in various forms of electronic music, ranging from an old vinyl collection from the early ’70s to the latest contemporary sounds.

To express himself musically, Mattia taught himself how to use Ableton Live, a popular music production software. He began producing music under several aliases, with HYLE being the most significant. His tracks are known for blending elements of indie, pop, punk, and 80s influences.

The HYLE project officially launched in 2023, and quickly gained attention within the electronic music scene. His tracks have been played at well-known parties such as Mayan Warrior and Circoloco x OFFSónar, with support from notable DJs including DJ Tennis, Carlita, Echonomist, DJ Ralf, and JeniaTarsol.
