Daria, a Dublin-based singer-songwriter, is introducing herself to the music scene with her debut single, Silhouettes. Her sound, rooted in rock and pop with alternative and progressive touches, draws inspiration from artists such as Måneskin, Bad Omens, Sleep Token, and The Backseat Lovers.
Originally from a small town in Croatia, Daria moved to Dublin to pursue her studies and her passion for music. Songwriting became a key outlet for her at the age of 10, helping her process complex emotions by putting them into words.
Silhouettes is a song about self-love and individuality. Daria explains, “The actual point behind the lyrics is for her to walk out without shame — the little girl trapped in my past. She is so scared to fight those ‘silhouettes’, so she just keeps on running. This is just an open door for her to uncover.”
Rather than directly addressing societal pressures around appearance, identity, or opinions, Silhouettes focuses on celebrating personal uniqueness. “The issues we face daily about our looks, opinions, gender, sexuality, are just trapping us in our heads and not letting us live,” Daria says. “I didn’t write this song to talk about those issues. I wrote it to celebrate all of us and everything that makes us unique.”
The single was launched with a live performance on Monday, November 18th, at the Bello Bar in Dublin, featuring special guest appearances.
Daria’s music aims to connect with listeners on a personal level, combining emotional storytelling with a bold sound that reflects her diverse influences and creative vision. With Silhouettes, she offers an invitation to embrace individuality and let go of self-doubt.
