Giulia Iaccarino, an emerging artist from Naples, has been passionate about writing since she was a child. Her first published piece came when she was just nine, featured in a collection of children’s fairy tales by Rogiosi.
Giulia’s fascination with stories has always centered around the idea of discovery. As a child, she wrote about a starfish exploring the ocean, uncovering the wonders of the deep. For her, writing isn’t just about words on a page — it’s about connecting with people and exploring emotions.
Naples, with its sunny streets and vibrant culture, has always inspired Giulia. It was during high school that her writing truly began to flourish. At 16, she published her first novel, Grace, Ricordi? (Grace, do you remember?), a coming-of-age story told through letters. The book follows Grace, a young woman trying to find her way after finishing school. For Giulia, writing this book was a personal journey, and sharing it with readers felt like offering a piece of herself to the world.
As she moved on to university, Giulia began working on new projects and building connections in the literary community. She joined forces with Apeiron Edizioni, where she met well-known Neapolitan writers like Lorenzo Marone and Fiorello Catena. In 2023, Giulia contributed to I Fari dell’Anima (Lighthouses of the Soul), a collaborative project where 16 authors wrote about the symbolism of lighthouses. Her story focused on the Lighthouse of Alexandria, seen through the eyes of a child named Kaos.
Working with such a diverse group of writers has been a meaningful experience for Giulia, reminding her how many stories are still waiting to be told. As she looks to the future, Giulia plans to continue growing as a writer, eager to share her love for words through her books and one day in the classroom as a teahcer.
