Marialuna d’Amicis, known as Luna, was born on May 29, 2002, in Magenta, near Milan. She now lives in Serracapriola, a small town in the province of Foggia. She is 22 years old, and music has always been a part of her life.
Since she was little, Luna loved singing songs from Zecchino d’Oro, a singing competition for kids, for her family. Even though she never took singing lessons, everyone said she had a beautiful voice. As she grew up, she developed three main passions: singing, playing the piano, and writing.
At 11 years old, her father gave her a keyboard, and she learned to play it by writing the names of the notes on the keys. In middle school, she improved her musical skills and continued to study piano at the Conservatory, first in Rodi Garganico and then in Campobasso. She now studies Communication Sciences at university.
Writing is another great passion of Luna’s. Since she was a child, she created poems and rhymes for every occasion. When something inspired her, like a snowfall, she wrote poems and showed them to her elementary school teacher, who encouraged her to participate in contests and poetry exhibitions.
As she got older, Luna took music more seriously. She started to have favorite singers, especially in rap/hip-hop, and was inspired by them. Suffering from anxiety, she found a way to express her emotions through music. She combined her love for poetry and rap, writing and rapping over music tracks, finding peace in this process.
With some friends, she formed a rap crew, performing concerts, recording EPs, and making music videos. They were young and full of hope.
Luna took part in auditions like the Tour Music Fest, reaching the semifinals. But in 2020, the group broke up, and COVID-19 made it hard to continue. Luna decided not to give up and started posting cover songs on Instagram and YouTube, getting positive feedback.
After the quarantine, she began performing in local venues, piano bars, and events, gaining confidence in herself. She participated in TV shows like XFactor, Tu Si Que Vales, and Viva il Videobox on Rai 2. Even though, she moved away from rap, she experimented with new musical styles. Her latest song, “NIENTE,” is more pop, but she doesn’t limit herself to one genre. She continues to explore new possibilities in music.
“Niente” explores emotions about a past relationship, mixing memories of nostalgia and frustration. The clear and strong words show a journey of healing and determination to take control of what was lost. It’s an emotional path that finishes with hope to rediscover oneself and chase dreams despite obstacles. The calming tune and moving lyrics express a wish for redemption, encouraging to face the future with courage and optimism, leaving behind the darkness of the past.
